A friend of mine recently asked me to do a house clearing for one of her clients. I knew little to nothing about what was going on other than the person didn’t like being in the house and wanted to tear it down. I agreed to see what I could do to help, and my friend took me to see her client.
The details of the house and what was going on or what had happened there in the past are not relevant to this story. However, I will say from the outside, the house didn’t feel bad, and the land felt wonderful. When there are bad things happening with spirits in a location, I can feel it before I enter.
After some conversation with the owner, I began to explore the house and smudge with sage as I went through it. Some parts of the house felt lighter than others. While there were some spirits hanging out there, they were not the issue. This home sat on a location where negative energy settled. It was like streams feeding a pond. Negative energy came in and stayed. It would pool up almost as though the house was being fed by it.
It is not uncommon for certain places to draw in negative energy, nor is it uncommon for it to get stuck. While this sometimes happens due to something terrible happening further back in history, that is not always the case. These negative energies can be cleared with some work, but if the location is truly a magnet or siphon for it, it will fill up again in time.
There are structural issues with this house as well, so it will be torn down at some point. I recommended they NOT rebuild on this particular spot, but on a different part of the land to avoid having the same issues in the new house. Just because one area on a property has negative energy or is a funnel for it does not mean the entire area is not usable or safe to be on. Energy can sit in one area without having an impact on the surrounding spaces.
I believe filling in the hole where the foundation was and possibly putting some plants over the top of it would be a good idea. Doing so could help eliminate future building or use of that footprint.
If the building were to be left standing, in this case or another like it, I would strongly encourage very regular smudging, clearing and intention setting. The best way to keep negative energy from building up and becoming a serious issue is maintenance after it has been cleared. There are, however, some locations I would suggest staying away from or not using at all if the absorption of negative energy was too intense and had saturated it too deeply for too long.
Even in locations where this type of “pooling” isn’t happening, it never hurts to make sure your spaces are filled with positive energy.
