Bath Public Library Book Club to Discuss Sister Of My Heart
Bath, NH – The Bath Public Library Book Club will meet on Monday, October 19, at 5:00 PM at the Bath Public Library to discuss Sister of My Heart by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni. Sister of My Heart, set in the two worlds of India and America, is a moving novel of love, friendship, and compelling courage.
Anju and Sudha are cousins, born in Calcutta on the exact same day that their fathers die in a violent and mysterious accident. Anju is the daughter of an upper caste family; her cousin Sudha is the daughter of the black sheep of the family. Sudha is beautiful and tenderhearted while Anju is plain, whip-smart and defiant. Although their circumstances are vastly different, the two girls form a deep bond.
Their bond is shattered by a dark family secret, and they are further separated by arranged marriages that take one to a small village and the other to America. When tragedy strikes them both, they discover that despite circumstances and distance, they must turn to each other.
Copies of the book are available to borrow at the Bath Public Library. Patrons are encouraged to pick up a copy and participate in what promises to be a thoughtful and engaging discussion. New members are always welcome.

Outstanding October happenings at Tenney Library
Wahoo! Lots of interesting and fun things going on in Newbury during October. Everyone is always welcome and we are accessible, too.
Story Time continues with Miss Lynn reading with Kindergartners. That is on Tuesday, October 6th at 9:45. There will also be an activity.
On Saturday, October 10th at 2:00 pm, Tenney is sponsoring Vermont Institute of Natural Science (VINS) for a great, hands-on FAMILY EVENT called “Rendezvous with REPTILES. You will be able to handle the reptiles and learn a lot. There will be popcorn and apple cider after the program.
On Sunday, October 25th at 2:00pm, Vermont’s beloved historian, Howard Coffin, will introduce one of his new programs about Vermont’s General Grant, a leader of the famed Vermont Brigade in the Civil War and a participant at the surrender at Appomattox Courthouse. Am I the only one who was not familiar with this Vermont hero?
Refreshments will be served, too.
We continue to welcome you to Pins & Needles on Thursday mornings at 9:30 for socializing and any handwork you care to bring. On the 1st Thursday of each month the Book Group meets at 7:00pm. October’s book is The Ninth Hour. For the current book being discussed, check our website.
We are receiving a shipment of books, including bestsellers and Booker Prize winners, etc. Remember our puzzle collection. It grows larger every month.
