October Events At Fairlee Public Library

The Fairlee Public Library was honored to host local author and artist Blair Shedd’s recent book launch for his graphic novel “The Worlds Between Us.” The book is a science fiction/fantasy epic, set right here in Fairlee, Vermont. The author kindly gifted the library two copies of the novel, both of which are available for circulation. This novel is intended for mature audiences.
The library will be hosting another book launch in October, this one aimed at a demographic of younger readers. On October 7th, from 5:30 to 7:00 pm, local author Lance Mills will be discussing his recent children’s book, “Quill Hewes and Captain Morey’s Time Loop”-another magical story set in our very own town. This event is free and open to the public. All are welcome. Light refreshments will be provided.
Our after-school program has resumed once again. On Tuesdays, we read aloud from a chapter book and/or play board games. On Wednesdays, we do crafts. On Fridays, we Lego! Activities will take place between 3:15 pm and 4:15 pm, and are open to kids ages 9 and up. Light refreshments will be provided. Please note that children ages 8 and under may participate with direct adult supervision, but some activities may not be appropriate for younger children. Only children aged 9 and older may be in the library without direct adult supervision, per our library’s policies. Participants in the after school program and their guardians will be asked to sign an acknowledgment of relevant library policies. Please stop by the library to fill in and sign the participation form before attending the after-school activities.
October will be the inaugural month of our brand new Junior Book Club for grades 4 through 8. The first book of choice is The Trouble with Heroes by Kate Messner. The library has copies of the book available for circulation. The book club will meet at the library on Wednesday, October 28th at 4:30 pm for a discussion and to choose their next read.
