Outside Groton Library at Fall Foliage Festival
If you’ve driven through Groton lately, no doubt you’ve noticed that the Library has been a hub of activity inside and out!
Improvements made over the summer and into the fall include a new roof, improved front porch, as well as a backup generator. In addition, newly installed HVAC and ERV systems make our indoor community space comfortable no matter the season or what the weather is like outdoors.New windows and doors throughout the Library make our space more energy efficient and noticeably quieter. These significant upgrades were made possible thanks to the The American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Coronavirus Capital Projects Funds (CPF) Program, administered by the U.S. Department of the Treasury through the Vermont Department of Libraries.
We were also able to make upgrades to building accessibility- including Accessible exitway on the upper level, and adding handrails and a changing station to the second floor bathroom.
Less visible infrastructure improvements include upgrades to our electrical panel and fire alarm panel systems.
These critical capital projects directly enable work, education, and health monitoring, including remote options, in response to the COVID-19 public health emergency. This project would not have been possible without the support of the team at RuralEdge, and the Library Board of Trustees.
A fresh coat of paint will finish things off and wrap up this month's long project to improve our beloved community space and carry us forward.
Fall Foliage Day 2026
Thank you to everyone who visited the library on Fall Foliage Day! We welcomed over 215 visitors to the library on October 3rd. Special thanks to Groton authors Barbara Murray and Thaddeus Robinson, Kirsten Murch for setting up the Storywalk, Martha and Richard Montague for showcasing handmade wooden folk toys, our Crafts & Conversations group for creating the most gorgeous quilts and afghan raffled off by the Friends of the LIbrary. Thank you also to WYKR- we were excited to their live broadcast! We look forward to making this part of the annual tradition!
