Bath Public Library Book Club To Discuss Hamnet By Maggie O’Farrell

Bath Public Library Book Club to Discuss I Have Some Questions for You

Bath, NH – The Bath Public Library Book Club will meet on Monday, November 9, at 5:00 PM at the Bath Public Library to discuss Hamnet by Maggie O’Farrell.

Warwickshire in the 1580s, the Black Death creeps across England. Agnes, wife of a young William Shakespeare, is a woman as feared as she is sought after for her unusual gifts. She settles with her husband in Stratford, and has three children: a daughter, Susanna, and then twins, Hamnet and Judith. The boy, Hamnet, dies in 1596, aged eleven. Four years or so later, William writes a play called Hamlet.

Award-winning author Maggie O’Farrell’s novel, Hamnet, breathes full-blooded life into the story of a loss usually consigned to literary footnotes, and provides an unforgettable vindication of Agnes, a woman intriguingly absent from history.

Copies of the book are available to borrow at the Bath Public Library. Patrons are encouraged to pick up a copy and participate in what promises to be a thoughtful and engaging discussion. New members are always welcome.

Library hours are Monday and Wednesday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Thursday and Saturday from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. For more information, contact the Bath Public Library at 603-747-3372 or bathlibrarynh@gmail.com.
