Bath Public Library Announces July Children’s Summer Program
By Lisa Hjelm
The Bath Public Library is inviting children and families to plant a seed, read a book, and watch their imaginations grow this summer.
The library’s Children’s Summer Program will be held every Tuesday in July from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Bath Public Library, located at 4 West Bath Road in Bath, New Hampshire. This year’s theme is “Plant a Seed, Read!” and each week will feature a different hands-on activity, presentation, or celebration designed to encourage curiosity, creativity, and a love of learning.
The program begins on Tuesday, July 7, with storyteller and musician Michael Caduto presenting “Earth Gardens and the Seeds of Life.” Through stories and songs, children will explore the connections among people, plants, and Native gardens.
On Tuesday, July 14, the library will celebrate America’s 250th birthday with historical and fun facts about Bath, New Hampshire. Children will also enjoy a patriotic craft and colorful snacks as part of the morning’s activities.
The Fairbanks Museum will visit on Tuesday, July 21, to present “Seed Science.” Children will delve into the fascinating world of seeds, learning about seed dispersal and the amazing transformations seeds make after landing in the soil.
The summer program wraps up on Tuesday, July 28, with the Bath Village Garden Party on the historic Bath Village Green in front of the library. Children will have the chance to make their own fruit snack, paint a flower pot, create compost in a jar, and play garden-themed games. Organizers say the event will be full of surprises.
Families are asked to sign up at the library ahead of time so staff can make sure there are enough supplies for everyone. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
The Bath Public Library is open Monday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m., and Thursday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon.
