We are pleased to announce that the work on the Library’s Capital Project Grant has started. The Groton Free Public Library (GFPL) was awarded $522,043 for critical building upgrades that will improve access to library resources and to vital high-speed internet for work, education and health monitoring.

This one-time, substantial grant will address critical building improvements, including:

  • Replacement of the aging roof

  • Installation of an energy efficient heating and cooling system that will improve air quality and ventilation

  • The installation of a generator

  • Replacement of windows and other necessary repairs

  • Upgrading the second floor restroom to make it ADA compliant

  • The creation of a three-season space on the existing front porch
