Albert “Sonny” Fifield Downing Jr.

Lifelong East Topsham resident Albert “Sonny” Fifield Downing Jr., 82, died peacefully, with his cat Bella at his side, Sunday morning, October 12, 2025, at his daughter's home in Orange. Born on April 20th,1943 to Albert F. Downing Sr. and Emma A. (Stevens) Downing.
Sonny's careers in life included logging, construction, and roofing with his brothers. In his retirement, he enjoyed driving in the pumpkin fields of Newmont Farm and his daily trips to the East Corinth General Store to get together with the “Coffee Crew” and to visit with his niece, Hope Welch.
Sonny enjoyed taking care of his garden, hunting, and sugaring. He loved to collect coins…and everything else.
He is survived by his daughter Michelle Downing, granddaughter Felisha (Olmstead) Sutton and spouse Riley Sutton, and grandson Orrin Olmstead. His brothers Richard Downing and spouse Tracy Downing, Dusty Downing and spouse Eva Downing. His sisters Sharon Emerson, Joyce Meyette, and Janice Emerson. Along with many beloved nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Topsham United Presbyterian Church in East Topsham on Saturday, October 25 at 2pm followed by light refreshments.
