Raymond A. Poliquin

Woodsville, NH – Raymond A. Poliquin, 92, passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at the Westford House in Westford, MA.
Raymond was born on June 11, 1933, in St. Johnsbury, VT, to Rosaire and Marie Blanche (Couture) Poliquin. He graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy in 1951. Ray married Gloria Lamarche on October 26, 1953, while he was serving in the US Army. He served as a cook at Ft. George G. Mead in Laurel, Maryland, from 1953 through 1955. Their daughter, Michele Rae, was born while he was serving his country. After he was discharged, they moved back to St. Johnsbury, where Ray went to work for the Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co. (A & P) and was transferred to Woodsville, NH, and stayed with them from 1951 to 1979. Ray worked his way up from a part-time position in high school to a store manager in Woodsville, NH. The Company started closing stores in 1976, and Ray was transferred to Haverhill, MA, where he worked until he retired in 1979. Then he worked for Gould Modicom in Andover, MA, for eleven years as a Security Supervisor. He also worked for the P & C Supermarkets in Littleton, NH, and the Grand Union Supermarket in Lincoln, NH, until he retired again, after six years, in 1995. In retirement, Ray worked part-time for Butson’s Supermarket and Shaw’s Supermarket in Woodsville, NH.
Ray loved to travel and drive his antique 1969 Camaro convertible and his 1976 Yamaha Chappy Scooter. He also loved to go out to different restaurants and to spend time with his family and friends.
Raymond is predeceased by his parents, Marie Blanche and Rosaire Poliquin, and his wife, Gloria (Lamarche) Poliquin, who passed away on July 16, 1993.
He is survived by his daughter, Michele Rae (Poliquin) Strobel, son-in-law Paul Strobel, and grandson Christian Edward Strobel of Nashua, NH. He is also survived by his best friend and life partner, Rosemary (Viens) Frappier, and her children and grandchildren, as well as his many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Calling hours will be on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, from 3 to 4 PM, with a concluding service at 4 PM, at Ricker Funeral Home & Cremation Care of Woodsville, 1 Birch St., Woodsville, NH 03785
