Peg Miles (Dorothy Ellen McCann)

Peg Miles (Dorothy Ellen McCann) passed away on August 13, 2025 in Ft. Myers Florida. Peg was born in Waterville, Maine to Reginald and Dorothy Fitzherbert McCann on February 19, 1928. Peg and Edward Miles were married in 1947 and thus began the Miles family in Littleton, NH. Peg was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Rose of Lima Church for many years and where her faith continued to grow. Peg possessed the ability to know that tragedies offered us all an opportunity to rely on our faith and would help strengthen our character. Mom's character was built on endless tests of tragedy, loss, and drama, but never let these events destroy her passion for the church and her love of Jesus Christ. . Many will remember 22 Grove Street as a place where our mother raised and nurtured 9 children of her own and many more who just needed a place to rest. After her children left the nest, mom continued her education at Goddard College in Vermont, then became the Headstart teacher in Littleton at the Congregational Church. Later on she spent several years teaching kindergarten at the Carolina Crapo School in Sugar Hill, NH.
Peg is survived by her children John (Karen O'Block) Miles, Meg (Dan) Trafton, Jean (Jim) McKenna, Karen (Bruce Knoechel) Miles, Scott Miles, Jim (Tammy Davis) Miles, and Barbara Miles; Peg's sons Mark and Paul predeceased her. Her grandchildren are Earl Tilton III, Mark (Cindy) Miles, James and McCann Miles, and Spenser McKenna; great grandchildren Blake and Julia Miles, and Fiona Tilton. Sister in law Dorothy Miles Herbert and sister Jane McCann McGrew. Her son Mark died in 1970 and son Paul in 2020. Dad passed away in September 2015 paving the way for Mom to join him. Although she will be missed, her love for others will continue to touch the hearts of those who knew her.
