
Obituaries
Her parents Joseph J. and Frances E. (Redmond) McArdle welcomed their daughter to the world on March 30, 1942, in Boston MA. She grew up in Roxbury, MA and was a 1959 graduate of the St. Patrick High School in Roxbury.
After marrying Victor J. Bishop she moved to New Hampshire, eventually spending over 45 years in Troy before moving to Grafton County in 2018.
A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, family was always of great importance to her, and she was avid with pursuing her family genealogy.
Frances worked for several local businesses during her time here in Cheshire County, including Peerless Insurance Company for many years and later Sears Roebuck Company. She also helped as a bookkeeper for her husband’s business. Her final occupation, which she enjoyed greatly was working for Home Healthcare Hospice and Community Services in Keene after obtaining her LNA in the early 1990’s.
Frances was a parishioner of the Immaculate Conception Church in Troy for many years. She was active civically with the Fitzwilliam American Legion as their Auxiliary Chaplain.
Frances enjoyed her role as a homemaker and "farmer’s wife". Her delicious goat cheese was always in demand from friends and family. She enjoyed making home movies and was an avid Red Sox Fan.
She is survived by her son Eddie and his wife Anita of Lacey, WA; daughters Ellen Swain and her husband Leslie of North Haverhill, NH, and Vicki Bean of Troy, NH; her grandchildren Alicia Blake and her husband, Timothy and Nathaniel Swain all of Woodsville, NH and Ryan Bean of White River Junction, VT; five great-grandchildren, Katie Blake, Bennett Swain and Wesley Swain, Dominic Wells, and Zoey Wells; her sisters Patricia Edgar and her husband Robert of Hanover, MA, Judith Holliday and her husband Frank and Theresa Leth and her husband Philip, all of Quincy, and many nieces and nephews. Her husband Victor, died on April 23, 2010. Two brothers, Joseph and William McArdle predeceased her.
A mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in St. Bernard Church, Keene, NH, and was followed by burial with committal prayers in the family lot in the Mountain View Cemetery, Troy, NH.
