
Obituaries
In her early years, Earline worked for Henry’s Diner (where she met Bill), Head Start, and numerous years at Thomas Pharmacy, a job which she loved. She was a member of Groton United Methodist Church, UMW, Eastern Star, a Shrine Lady, and Modern Woodmen Junior Club leader. She was a care giver for many in Vermont and Florida.
Earline loved traveling by trains, boats, and planes, camping, reading, card games, puzzles, doll making, all kinds of needlework, and was creative in many ways. She was known to have an open door policy and often served as the town nurse, doctor, therapist, ear piercer, and beautician. She was the fastest berry picker, loved taking her granddaughters to “Jamaica” and having tea parties with them as well. She enjoyed her winters in Florida.
Earline is survived by four children; Calvin Blodgett of Okeechobee, FL; Kathy Norris and her husband Jim of Lyndon, VT; William Palmer Jr. and his wife Joanne of Lyndonville, VT; Phillip Palmer and his wife Lynne of Groton, VT; and her daughter in-law Donna Blodgett of Barnard, VT. She also leaves behind 17 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren, two sisters, two brothers, and her best friend Janet Puffer, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Earline is predeceased by her parents, her husband of 62 years, Bill Palmer Sr., three sons Michael Blodgett, Darryl Blodgett and Scott Palmer, granddaughter Carissa Palmer and 4 brothers.
There will be a memorial service on Saturday July 12, 2025, at 1 PM at the Groton United Methodist Church, 1397 Scott Hwy, Groton VT. Those who wish may make donations to Caledonia Home Health and Hospice, 161 Sherman Dr. St. Johnsbury, VT 05819 or the Groton United Methodist Church, PO Box 157, Groton, VT 05046. Her family is especially thankful for the excellent care given to Earline by Kathy, Jim, Willie, Elizabeth, and Jennifer.
