David was born on April 28, 1954, to Marion (Bragdon) Moody and Melvin “Pete” Moody. He grew up on the family farm on Moody Road in Pike. David graduated from Woodsville High School in 1973.
He married the love of his life, Doreen Jesseman, on September 14, 1974. They moved to Florida after they were married for about 2 years. They moved back to Pike, where David worked for a milking equipment company, logged, and for the past 41 years worked in land management for the Pike/Becket School, Upper Valley Stewardship Center, and Moosilauke Visions Inc. He retired in February this year.
Dave was a loving family man who appeared gruff on the outside but was very loving and giving on the inside. He would help anyone who needed it.
He coached Little League for 25 years (O.R.A. Wildcats). He played in a men’s softball league (played 3rd base and was a switch-hitter). Dave also raced in the 4-cylinder division at Bear Ridge Speedway and Rumney for many years.
He had a great love for the outdoors. In his younger years, he enjoyed snowmobiling and fishing, but his favorite outdoor activity was hunting. He hunted mostly in N.H. and Vt. Dave enjoyed many hunting trips to Maine. His favorite hunting trips were with his wife to Virginia, where they enjoyed family time with his sister-in-law Jane and hunting with her husband Bruce.
