Mary Gajewski

Mary Gajewski, 77, of Woodsville, passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at the Grafton County Nursing Home in North Haverhill. Born in Woodsville on February 22, 1949, she was the beloved daughter of Lyle and Barbara (Turner) Grimes. Mary graduated from Woodsville High School with the Class of 1966.
Mary spent many years working as a waitress at various local restaurants. She later worked for several years as a receptionist at Poulos Insurance before her retirement. In 1986, she married Paul Gajewski, with whom she shared many happy years. Outside of work, Mary enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. She loved spending time in her camper, traveling and often staying all season at different campgrounds in exchange for working and maintaining the grounds. She enjoyed creating scrapbooks and visiting and admiring lighthouses on the coast of Maine. She also treasured visiting with her friends, often over a relaxing evening cocktail.
Mary was predeceased by her husband, Paul Gajewski, in 2024; her parents, Lyle and Barbara Grimes; her daughter, Karen Gordon, in 2011; and a brother David Grimes, in 2012. She is survived by her son Edward Woods and his wife Karen of Monroe; a brother Stephen Grimes of Las Vegas, NV; a sister, Terry Fleeman of Florida; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
In accordance with Mary’s wishes, she will be laid to rest next to Paul at the Center Haverhill Cemetery in a private ceremony.
