2025-2026 will be celebrated at Tenney Library and Newbury Elementary School as “The Year of The Book” thanks to a grant from the Children’s Literacy Foundation (CLiF). Storytellers and free books will be available to all of the students as well as a gathering with parents, too and food for all in January. Be sure to be looking out for the dates and presenters It will be a lot of fun for all.

Meanwhile a lot is going on at Tenney. Save these dates:

BOOK TALK,Thursday, October 16th at 6:30pm, reading from his new book, local author, Forest L. Acrres ,will share Moosilauke. The author has woven tales, truths, and myths about the mountain and also, stories about Doc Benton, for whom the town was named. Q & A to follow, as well as book signing.

OnThursday, November 13th at 6:30pm we welcome another new author who lives in our area,Thaddeus Robinson ,who has written a family trilogy. He will share readings from his For Michele, Southern Comfort

and Twisted Roots. There will be time for a Q & A and signing of books, too.

As the weather grows cooler many of us turn to curling up with a good book. Here are the dates and titles if you’d like to join our Book Discussion Group which meets on the first Thursday of each month.(weather permitting in the winter) Thursday, November 6th at 7:00pm The Art Thief. Thursday, December 4th at 7:00pm In Farleigh Field, and on January 8th at 7:00pm, the year’s Vermont Reads book The Light Pirate. Everyone is welcome.

Make Note! Vermont passes for state parks and historical sites expire on October 31st. Still time to check them out at the library.

Remember, we still have plenty of passes that are good until the end of the year and some that are good into 2026. For information call the library or email us.

PUZZLES! New ones were donated to Tenney with the promise that all the pieces are there. Another great way to pass the long winter if you have to stay indoors. Check puzzles out as you would a book.

Pins and Needles meets on Thursday morning from 9:30 to 11:00. Just bring any hand work and enjoy the company of other people at the same time that you work on a project.

The Mindful Meditation folks are still Zooming on Tuesdays as it makes it easier to meet for many people.

We do have free computers for public use as well s free Wifi.

We also offer space for meetings if space is not already booked.
