The schedule was still light last week due to the holiday break; however, on Friday, January 2nd, the Oxbow girls hosted Thetford. Oxbow came into the game 5-0, and Thetford, who was 1-4, didn’t have any plans on how to stop Oxbow’s powerful offense. Oxbow outscored Thetford in every quarter. Thetford did warm up in the third quarter, making five three-pointers in the frame, but Oxbow countered by scoring twenty-two points of their own. Thetford’s Adison Labelle finished the game leading all Thetford scorers with sixteen points. Oxbow’s Braylee Phelps matched that with her own sixteen-point game. Eight of Oxbow’s twelve varsity players contributed points in this lopsided game. Notably, Makenna Houston finished with nine points, and Brooke Osgood finished with eight points and thirteen rebounds.

On Saturday, January 3rd, the Woodsville boys hosted the BMU Bucks in the cross-river rivalry. Woodsville has struggled a bit in the early season and came into this game 3-6 and took on the winless BMU boys team (0-2). The first half proved to be very competitive, with BMU’s Jamal Saibou scoring eleven points in the first half. Woodsville senior, Ryan Walker, countered with nine points of his own. The half ended with the Engineers leading 22-18. During the second half, Woodsville found a way to slow Saibou down as he scored only three points in the second half. Saibou finished the game with fourteen points and seven rebounds. BMU’s Brody Scott had a good game, finishing with six points and eight rebounds. BMU couldn’t find a way to stop Walker in the second half. Walker ended the game with twenty-four points and six rebounds. Landon Tetreault also scored double digits, chipping in ten. Woodsville had eight players contribute to the win, improving Woodsville’s record to 4-6.

The BMU boys hosted Oxbow on Saturday, January 10th. It turned out to be a lopsided affair as the Oxbow boys came out of the locker room hot from beyond the arc. Oxbow scored 38 points in the first half to BMU’s 12. Four of the Oxbow starters dropped in rainbows for three. Jayden Huntoon led all Oxbow scorers, hitting four from three-point land and finishing with 18 points despite sitting for most of the second half. Kobin Ellsworth also had a good game finishing with 16. In the second half against Oxbow’s second string, Jamal Saibou had 15 points and finished the game leading all BMU scorers with 20. Dylan LaCasse for BMU contributed nine points. The Olympians improve to 3-2 on the season and BMU falls to 0-6,

Looking ahead, we will be covering the BMU girls as they host the Danville Bears with a 6:00 PM tip-off on Friday, January 16th.
