Listening to the Horses
Tina Gilson
October 16, 2025
I have a client who often has me come to her property to hold seances. She is a rare exception, as I don generally go to my clients, they come to me. A few months ago, she had adopted a horse with a bit of history, and she asked me to tell her what I thought about it or if I could pick up on anything. While I read people all the time, I don't generally make a practice of reading animals. However, I told her I would see what I could do.
I went out back and saw the horse, spending just a small amount of time there. I told her what I was picking up on in terms of how the horse was feeling and what he needed. Some of what I told her she could validate, some of it was new information.
Recently, she invited me back for another seance. A friend of hers who regularly attends asked me if I would check on one of her horses that was on the property as well. He had been having some issues and hoped that I could help. I told her I would see what I could do, and we walked to the barn.
I saw the first horse I had read previously, and he looked really well. She told me that he was doing much better and what I had told them was accurate. That he was like a whole new horse. I was very happy to see and hear this, as I had never read a horse before and I love to see animals thriving and living good lives.
She then showed me her horse. She had not told me the issues he was having, but I could tell immediately he was sad and hadn been feeling well. She explained some of the health issues he had been experiencing, and that he was slowly improving.
I put my hands on the horse, began speaking to him, and gave him some Reiki. Animals often will only allow you to give them Reiki for a few minutes, as they tend to cycle faster and feel the effects of the Reiki more intensely than people. As most of us know, animals are more aware and in touch with unseen energies than we are.
The horse stood there for a fair amount of time, and at one point, moved himself so my hands slid down to another area of his body. He felt very intuitive and, again, stood there letting me continue to give him Reiki. His owner said she could see his eyes calm down and that he was relaxing.
This horse's owner came to me for her Reiki attunement and has given him more Reiki since then, which she reports as going well. We need to remember how intelligent, intuitive and emotional animals are. We need to learn to listen to what they tell us in their own way and try to give them what they need.
