A new wellness program is arriving in town with Fall Prevention Tai Chi, offered in partnership with the Northeast Kingdom Council on Aging and Tai Chi Vermont. The class introduces gentle movements designed to help reduce the risk of falls, improve joint health and flexibility, and support breathing and balance. Sessions will be held Wednesdays at 11 a.m. in the library’s loft, which is accessible by both stairs and elevator. No prior experience is needed. Anyone with questions can contact the NEK Council on Aging at 800-642-5119.
Students can also look forward to an afterschool creative break with Afterschool Craft Club: Duck Tape Storage Pouches on Wednesday, April 22, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. The workshop is free, materials are provided, and participants are encouraged to bring their imagination for an easygoing afternoon of hands-on crafting.
The library will also be a hub for Green Up Day on May 2, featuring activities on the Library Plaza. The day will begin with a themed Storytime from 9:30 to 10 a.m., followed by a Community Clean Up with RuralEdge from 10 a.m. to noon. A Bottle & Can Drive Fundraiser hosted by Re-Treasured Community Closet will run 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., along with giveaways and light refreshments.
Nature lovers can join a Spring Birding Workshop with Audubon Vermont on Friday, May 15, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. This hybrid program will cover bird identification tips, tools, and local places to watch birds, with time for questions. Participants may attend at the library or register online.
