February 26, 2026
The last week of the regular basketball season is upon us, and teams are playing for movement in the playoff pairings. This week, we are featuring two local games. Oxbow boys versus Danville, and the Blue Mountain boys versus Danville. These games have playoff implications.

Danville boys and Oxbow battled for the entire game. There were eight lead changes in the game. For the Danville Bears, who came into the contest at 10-6 and had lost to Oxbow previously by four points, there was an extra playoff point to be won if they could defeat the Division III Olympians. Oxbow also came into the game with a 10-6 record and was battling for a home playoff spot as they were currently ranked ninth in their division. At the end of the first quarter, Danville led 17-15.

The battle continued through the second quarter, and at the half, Oxbow went into the locker room with a 28-27 lead. In the third quarter, Sebastian
Eldred stepped up with seven huge points and four rebounds to put Danville on top by four, 40-36. The fourth quarter was a defensive struggle, Oxbow only managing to score six in that quarter as Danville could only score eight themselves, but it was enough for Danville to get the win 48- 42. Jayden Huntoon scored 23 points and led all scorers despite the loss. Danville’s Sabastian Eldred scored 15 points and gathered 9 rebounds, which was
enough to bolster Danville’s season record to 11-6.

After defeating Oxbow, Danville rode that wave down to BMU where they dominated the struggling Bucks. Jamal Saibou, for BMU, showed his gameness as he dropped 24 points and gathered 6 rebounds. Danville had
four players scoring double figures. Kohl Guinard finished with 12 points, Sebastian Eldred had 19, Landon Fournier had 15, and Alijah Andrews had
17 points and 10 rebounds. Danville’s record improves to 12-6 with the win.

The girls’ playoffs start this week, followed by the boys next week. It is always a busy and exciting time of year in the North Country.
