The 2025/26 basketball season has officially come to an end for our local teams.  The last week of the season was filled with accolades for seniors who were participating in the final games of their high school careers.  The postseason is a time when some of those seniors are picked for all-star teams.  As those seniors make plans for their futures, coaches are left with a long off-season of trying to figure out what next year will look like. 

This article will take a look at those underclassmen who look like they have the potential to step into the shoes of the departing talent.  Seeing potential in a coach’s underclassman is one thing.  Helping that player see their own potential and working towards meeting it is what separates the good coaches and their players from the rest of the pack.  This is a list of players that this writer and former coach see some potential in, and I look forward to watching their development next season.   

For the Boys Underclassman Team:

• Woodsville - Brady Fish (sophomore)

• Woodsville - Cody Raymond (sophomore)

• Oxbow - Colin Chase (sophomore)

• Blue Mountain - Onyx Scott (Freshman)

• Rivendell Academy - Bryson Gilman (sophomore)

• Oxbow - Brogan Covey (sophomore)

 

Girls Underclassman Team:

• Rivendell Academy - Grace Bourn (eighth grade)

• Oxbow - Kayleigh Davis (sophomore)

• Oxbow - Margaret Williams (freshman)

• Blue Mountain - Natalie Burroughs (sophomore)

• Danville - Peyton Winn (sophomore)

• Rivendell Academy - Lexi Gray (sophomore)

So that’s a wrap on the 2025/26 season. We have been lucky enough to see lots of good basketball this season and have been able to watch our local teams make their run for a championship.
