Take a stroll in Veteran’s Park and enjoy successive pages from “Over in the Meadow ” by Ezra Jack Keats along your path.“The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library in Montpelier Vermont.
With the support of the Children’s Literacy Foundation Spark Grant, the Library will host a Book Giveaway! Each kid gets to pick out 2 NEW books to keep.
The Friends of the Library will be hosting a “Cozy Cup” Fundraiser, offering cider, coffee, and hot chocolate by donation on the library's front porch. Warm up with a "cozy cup" and help the Friends of the Library raise money to support library programs.
At 2pm, after the parade, enjoy the music of Hungrytown at the Gazebo in Veteran’s Park. Rebecca Hall and Ken Anderson, through their years of worldwide touring and tireless devotion to many classic genres of music, have crafted Hungrytown into a true artistic hybrid, able to hold Celtic and Americana, ballads and psychedelia. This Vermont based folk rock duo has a timeless sound and gorgeous vocal harmonies. In the event of rain, this concert will be moved to the Groton United Methodist Church.

Health Information Literacy: Thursday October 9th, 6pm
Join UVM Outreach Manager Maria Avery for a workshop on Finding Reliable Health Information Online. In this presentation, you will Learn about the breadth of health information available online , discover tools to evaluate the reliability of digital health information, guidance on how to begin spotting misinformation online, and gain awareness of a variety reliable health resources, and learn how to use a couple of these resources in hands-on demos.

Hang in the living room and have fun with our multiplayer game set. This is an intergenerational program for gamers of all ages.
River Memories: Exploring Settlement Patterns on Waterways in Vermont: Friday October 17th, 5:30 pm
Devastating recent rain events, including in July 2023 and 2024 and Tropical Storm Irene in 2011, have demonstrated that many communities in Vermont are vulnerable to damage from flooding. In this presentation historian Alan Berolzheimer examines how the development of settlement patterns over time have contributed to the problem of flooding in Vermont.
Crafts & Conversations Fall Yarn & Fabric Swap: Saturday, October 18th, 9:30am-12pm
Get inspired and stocked up for cool weather crafting! We have lots of fabrics, yarn, and craft items to share - feel free to come empty handed or bring items to share!
Harm Reduction Heroes: Saturday October 18th 12:30-2pm
Harm Reduction Heroes© (HRH) is a peer-mentorship program where participants will build knowledge, skills, & connections that reduce the risks associated with substance use (or other risky behaviors). During each 90-minute session, we will engage in “missions” to activate the skill-sets embodied in each of the harm reduction “heroes”. Lunch is served.
Tween & Teen Night: Friday October 24th 5-7pm
Attention tweens, teens: Join us once a month on Fridays for FREE Pizza and a welcoming space to hang. Eat pizza, play games and hang in a safe, supportive environment. All are welcome, ages 10-19. This program is supported by 302 Cares, Pizza Donated by Sarky’s Smokehouse.
