Check it Out Fairlee Library

December marks a quieter season here at the Fairlee Public Library—snow days, family vacations, and all manner of holiday festivities in the area keep our patrons busy elsewhere. But with the plummeting temperatures and the snow-covered fields, our patrons have also been visiting us just to spend some cozy time reading at the library. We have a wide selection of
seasonal and holiday books on display, plenty of comfy chairs to curl up in, as well as tea, coffee, and hot chocolate available. All that being said, however, there are some very exciting things happening in the town of Fairlee and at the library in the month of December. After Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus, and some of the elves visited the town hall on the 5th to greet the kiddos and to find
out what they want for Christmas, Santa and his crew said they would be coming back to town in a couple of weeks, and we arranged a special Christmas storytime at the library! Mark your calendars for Saturday, December 20th from 10:30 to 11:30: Santa, Mrs. Claus, and their band of
elves will be spreading holiday cheer, reading festive stories, and doing some crafting worthy of their workshop in the North Pole. We hope to see you there!
As a reminder, after school activities at the library are held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 3:30 - 4:30. Tuesdays are for crafting and board games, Wednesdays are for crafting and a read-aloud, and Fridays are for Lego Club. Snacks are always provided, thanks to generous donations from patrons and from Fairlee Community Arts. Please be mindful that
children under nine years old cannot be in the library without a parent, guardian, caregiver, or otherwise responsible adult that the child’s guardian has made arrangements with.
Regular storytime continues every Thursday and Saturday from 10:30 to 11:30, and the library hosts adult craft evenings every Wednesday from 5:30 to 6:30. Projects include painting, collage, sculpting with air-dry clay, fiber arts, and so much more. Already have a project in progress? Bring it along and craft in the company of friends!
Lastly, our holiday hours: we will be open as normal on Tuesday the 23rd, and then closed the 24th through the 26th. We will be open as normal on Saturday the 27th and on Tuesday the 30th, and then we will be closed for New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
