Dan Nott on Saturday

By Hannah Young

The Fairlee Public Library will be hosting a presentation by local author Dan Nott on Saturday May 30th at 6:00 pm. Dan Nott is the author of the non-fiction graphic novel Hidden Systems: Water, Electricity, the Internet, and Secrets Behind the Systems We Use Everyday. His presentation serves as a follow up to our book discussion of the VT Reads book club pick for 2025–2026: The Light Pirate by Lily Brooks Dalton.

The novel centers around the impacts of climate change on the environment, the people who inhabit it, the lengths they will go to to maintain the systems they put in place to protect their homes and lives, and how they adapt when the world as they know it disappears.

Should you wish to read either The Light Pirate or Hidden Systems before Dan Nott’s presentation, the library has a copy of both books in circulation. We hope to see you here at the library on the 30th for what promises to be a fascinating discussion.

In other news, the season of summer reading is fast approaching! We will be kicking off our summer reading program on Saturday the 20th of June, so mark your calendars! We are looking forward to a wonderful late spring and summer season here in Fairlee, and our volunteers and patrons are what make this time of year the joy that it is, so thank you. And we hope to see you this summer for some reading adventures!

Hannah Young is the assistant librarian at Fairlee Public Library in Fairlee, VT.
