THE WELLS RIVER-WOODSVILLE JULY 4th PARADE ALWAYS FEATURED MANY PROUD VETERANS.
For many years, our area veterans’ group would fall in, accompanied by a military history float, marchers, family members, and friends. As I recall from my many marches in this parade, the weather was usually beautiful. I've never marched the route in the rain. Enthusiastic crowds packed the long street, cheering and offering our troops and float participants cold water or a famous Hatchland chocolate milk along the way.
Remembering D-Day, June 6, 1944
According to notes sent me by the American Battle Monuments Commission, by the end of World War II several hundred temporary burial grounds had been established on battlefields around the world. In 1947, 14 sites in foreign countries were selected to become permanent burial grounds by the American Battle Monuments Commission. The locations of the sites corresponded closely with the course of military operations during the war.

Most schools and many organizations celebrated throughout the past week to honor the men and women who serve or have served the nation in peace and war.

Being crammed into the tram cars by our group leader who took on the pretend role as a Drill Instructor to ¥mind us of the way it used to be when we were serving in our Corps,7as from a bit of our past, when we were moved from one area to another, we were tightly jammed inside uncomfortable, wretchedly noisy configuration of a tortuous vehicles we called Cattle Cars.
