Adele R. Alger
November 29, 1945 – February 1, 2026
Adele R. Alger, age 80 of Barre, VT, passed away unexpectedly on February 1,2026 at the Vermont Medical Center in Burlington.
She was born November 29, 1945 and spent her summers in Newbury with her aunt and uncle, Bertha and Bill Burroughs and her cousins. She took part in 4-activities, epecially enjoying camping at Round Pond.
She graduated high school in Leominster MA and on November 30, 1963 she married Kenneth Alger, Jr. of Leighton Hill Road in Newbury. They lived in Barre where she was employed at various places, lastly at Central Vermont Med. Center.
She enjoyed knitting, doing crossword puzzles, driving to Four-Corners Farm for fresh vegetables, and country music - following local bands in the area.
She was predeceased by her mother Dorothy Rollins on January 6, 2011, by her former husband Ken on August 27,2017 and by her only daughter, Mary Jane on March 6, 2025.
She is survived by her three sons, Kenneth George (Wendy) John (Tina) and Mark (Tracy) and by her grandchildren: Amanda (David), Jesse, Kate (Jordan), Bradley (Brooke) Alger and Richard Beach and by four great grandchildren.
Services were held on March 13 at St. Monicas Church in Barre and burial will be on May 9 at the Newbury Center Town House cemetery at 1:00 with fellowship time to follow.
