The Last Week of the Season was Filled with Accolades
he postseason is a time when some of those seniors are picked for all-star teams. As those seniors make plans for their futures, coaches are left with a long off-season of trying to figure out what next year will look like.
Rivendell Was Cinderella
Rivendell played the role of Cinderella as they upset Mount Saint Joseph’s in the quarter finals to punch their ticket to the auditorium. They faced the number three-ranked West Rutland in the semi-finals
The Final Week of the Regular Season
After defeating Oxbow, Danville rode that wave down to BMU where they dominated the struggling Bucks. Jamal Saibou, for BMU, showed his gameness as he dropped 24 points and gathered 6 rebounds.
Hard Fought Battles
In a long-standing Division IV rivalry, the Blue Mountain girls’ team traveled to Danville. The Chrissy Perry rotating trophy, which is sponsored by the Masonic Temple, was at stake.
Start to Look at State Rankings
On Thursday night, the BMU boys traveled to Oxbow. Oxbow is ranked tenth in Vermont's Division III, and the Bucks are thirteenth in Division IV. Oxbow won the tap, and everything else went their way from that point on. At the half, Oxbow led 41-17.
BMU Struggles and Oxbow Meaningful Game
The Oxbow boys improve their record to 7-5 with a convincing victory over Northfield. It was cancer awareness night for the Olympians, which has special meaning for this group of boys, as senior Ayden Haley is himself a cancer survivor.
The Schedule Was Still Light Last Week
On Saturday, January 3rd, the Woodsville boys hosted the BMU Bucks in the cross-river rivalry. Woodsville has struggled a bit in the early season and came into this game 3-6 and took on the winless BMU boys team (0-2).
As The Midseason Approaches
Of course, it is still early, and these rankings will change as we work our way towards playoffs, but it is a good marker to keep track of to see if our local teams will be hosting playoff games or traveling for the first round of playoffs.
A Lopsided Affair
The schedule was still light last week due to the holiday break; however, on Friday, January 2nd, the Oxbow girls hosted Thetford. Oxbow came into the game 5-0, and Thetford, who was 1-4, didn’t have any plans on how to stop Oxbow’s powerful offense.

Christmas Week In Basketball
These contests were exciting to watch. It’s unusual to see such good basketball this early in the season. Next week’s featured games will be between the Oxbow Lady Olympians and Thetford on Friday January 2.
This Week's Basketball Wrap-Up
Tuesday night saw the BMU girls traveling down I-91 to take on the Olympians. The Lady Olympians were led by their hot shooting guard, Braylee Phelps.
There is No Better Place
On Friday night December 12, 2025, Rivendell Academy hosted White River Valley School in a Girls’ Division III early-season game. White River Valley (WRV) finished the regular season last year with a 20-4 record and, at one point, ran off a 13-game winning streak.
Our Area Teams Ready to Hit the Court Once Again
Another basketball season is getting ready to start. We are fortunate to have a rich history of success in our area. BMU and Oxbow both opened in the early 70’s, coaches like Mona Garone and Dean Trombley for Oxbow and Gerry Piper and Ron Brown for BMU created Championship traditions in our area.
