A Dog-Rescuing Neighbor
By Susannah Kerest
Front Porch Forum hosts online newsletters in every town in Vermont. Neighbors, nonprofits, businesses, and government officials can post messages, share news, get advice, make recommendations, announce events, sell items, and much more. It's all about helping neighbors to connect and build community.
Diane in Montpelier is grateful for superheroes. We thought her recent post thanking a dog-rescuing neighbor was well worth a share:
I just want to let everyone know that modern-day superheroes are real.
I am yelling my thanks from the rooftops to the young man who rescued our furry best friend this weekend. We were out walking the woods in Calais when one of our pups, the sweetest yellow lab in the world, went into a seizure far from the trailhead.
One of us took off down the trail to find help and knocked at the first house he came to. Simon answered and hurried to the scene with a wheelbarrow. He carted our big pup over the rough, up-and-down terrain all the way back to the road, where she could be loaded into the car and brought to safety. She is doing well today.
We hope this message somehow gets to Simon. We are still in a state of awe at his incredible kindness (not to mention physical strength!). May good karma pour down on him in buckets.
Each week, one posting is selected for its humor, storytelling, or community-building, and then shared throughout the state. And, now you can read it here in The Bridge Weekly.
