September 11 Programs
Many communities in New Hampshire, Vermont, and throughout the nation held commemorative observances that marked the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the nation.
Several regional and statewide tributes were scheduled in the Twin States to honor the more than 3,000 victims. A Major Observance in New Hampshire was the Mount Washington Tribute of Light from an organization known as Honor Summit NH.
Bedell Bridge Down
Many lucky people were on the bridge that night, and except for one, all ran to safety. It was quite a night for area first responders when the alarm went out that the nearly new Bedell Bridge, an entirely wooden covered bridge, had been destroyed in a sudden windstorm that raced up the river and hit the bridge with a fast-moving ton of force.
DESPITE IT ALL, SANTA CAME THROUGH FOR US
Well, what a thrill it all was for the family to enter Spencer's room on the arm of none other than Mister Santa Claus, straight from the North Pole, who was full of cheer, Ho-Ho-Ho's, and other fun and merriment.
RIOT CONTROL AND BLIZZARD OF '78
In 1978, interestingly, we made our move northward, right in the time frame that included my Boston participation with the Blizzard of '78. Terrible timing, but we made the move happen.
I WAS PART OF IT IN THE PAST, AND IT IS WORTH THE WAIT
We had no early arrivals in Plymouth to invite, nor did we have 90 Wampanoag Natives over for our feast. Still, we had a splendid repast that could have been somewhat historically accurate right down to the cranberries we picked from a next-door cranberry bog.
